vivo Y05e Review: Price, Specs, Battery and Features

The vivo Y05e is a budget phone with a very clear mission: keep things simple, tough and affordable.

It comes with a huge 5,150mAh battery, IP64 protection, a 6.74-inch display and Android 16 with OriginOS 6. At the same time, vivo has cut costs in some obvious places, especially the cameras, display resolution and storage.

In Pakistan, the official price is Rs. 39,999 for 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

So, is the Y05e actually worth your money? Let’s break it down.

The hardware makes one thing obvious: this isn’t trying to be a performance monster. It’s a basic everyday phone built around battery life and durability.

Design: Simple, But Built for Everyday Abuse

The Y05e doesn’t feel like an expensive phone, and that’s fine.

The body uses a composite plastic back, with Teal and Black color options. At 8.19mm thick and around 199g, it isn’t particularly heavy considering the battery inside.

The more interesting part is durability.

vivo gives the Y05e IP64 dust and splash resistance, along with an anti-drop design and what it describes as military-grade shock resistance. That makes this phone more appealing if your phone regularly gets knocked around.

Just don’t confuse IP64 with waterproofing. It’s designed for dust and splashes, not underwater use.

    Display: Big, But Only HD+

    The Y05e has a large 6.74-inch LCD with a 1600 × 720 resolution.

That’s enough for WhatsApp, YouTube, TikTok, web browsing and everyday apps. The screen can also run at up to 90Hz in supported apps and games, which should make scrolling feel smoother than a basic 60Hz panel.

    But here’s the catch.

This is still an HD+ screen. At this size, text and small details won’t look as crisp as they do on a Full HD+ phone.

Brightness is rated at 570 nits HBM, so outdoor visibility should be reasonable, but don’t expect flagship-level screen quality. For this price category, the display is usable. It’s just not the Y05e’s strongest selling point.

    Performance: Keep Your Expectations Realistic

The Y05e uses vivo’s T7225 octa-core processor, built on a 12nm process, with all eight cores clocked at 1.8GHz according to vivo’s official specifications.

There’s 4GB of physical RAM, plus up to another 4GB of extended RAM using storage.

That sounds like 8GB on the box, but remember: extended RAM isn’t the same as having 8GB of physical memory. Don’t buy this phone expecting gaming-phone performance.

For calls, messaging, social media, light browsing and video streaming, the hardware should be fine.

Heavy multitasking and demanding 3D games are where you’ll start seeing the limitations.

Battery: This Is the Big Selling Point

The 5,150mAh battery is easily the Y05e’s headline feature.

vivo claims up to 33 hours of video playback, 14.5 hours of TikTok playback and 11.3 hours of FPS gaming under its test conditions. It also rates the battery for at least 80% capacity after 1,600 full charge cycles.

Real-world battery life will vary, of course.

Still, with a large battery and relatively modest HD+ hardware, I’d expect the Y05e to comfortably target all-day use, and lighter users could potentially stretch it well beyond a day.

There is one obvious downside: 15W charging is slow by today’s standards.

A big battery is great. Waiting around to refill it isn’t.

    Cameras: Very Basic

This is where vivo has clearly saved money.

The Y05e has an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera.

There are useful shooting modes such as Night, Portrait, Panorama, Pro and Documents, but don’t mistake the long feature list for flagship camera hardware.

In good daylight, the main camera should be capable of handling quick photos for social media or messaging.

At night, indoors or with moving subjects, I’d keep expectations modest. If photography is your main reason for buying a phone, there are stronger options in this price range.

Software: Android 16 Is a Nice Surprise

One of the Y05e’s more interesting points is its software.

It ships with Android 16 and OriginOS 6.

That’s a big plus for a budget phone launching today. You also get features such as extended RAM and vivo’s AI Creation tools.

The bigger question isn’t whether the software is modern today. It’s how long vivo keeps the experience feeling modern. Software support can matter just as much as the launch version, so I’d want to see a clear long-term update commitment before calling this a great software bargain.

Storage: 64GB Is the Weak Spot

The Y05e comes with 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage.

    That’s not much.

Apps, photos, videos and system files can eat through 64GB surprisingly quickly. The good news is that vivo provides a dedicated microSD slot, with support for cards up to 2TB according to its specifications.

If you buy this phone, I’d strongly recommend using a microSD card if you keep lots of photos or videos.

    Other Useful Features

The Y05e isn’t packed with premium extras, but there are some practical touches.

    • Dual SIM + microSD support.
    • USB Type-C port.
    • Bluetooth 5.2.
    • Dual-band Wi-Fi.
    • Side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
    • FM radio.
    • OTG support. battery, IP64 protection, large display, Android 16 and expandable storage makes sense for someone who wants a straightforward-and-durability-focused budget phone, not an all-round specification champion. If those two priorities are at the top of your list, it
    • 200% super loud volume mode.
    • 5x ultra-bright flashlight.
    • IP64 dust and splash resistance.

The loudspeaker and extra-bright flashlight are particularly useful if you care more about practical features than benchmark scores.

Should You Buy the vivo Y05e?

Here’s how I’d look at it.

Buy the vivo Y05e if battery life, durability and basic everyday use matter more to you than cameras or gaming.

The combination of a 5,150mAh battery, IP64 protection, large display, Android 16 and expandable storage makes sense for someone who wants a straightforward phone that can survive daily use without constantly looking for a charger.

But at Rs. 39,999, the competition matters.

You’re giving up a lot in camera hardware, charging speed, display sharpness and performance. The 64GB storage is also something I’d think about before buying.

My take: the vivo Y05e is a battery-and-durability-focused budget phone, not an all-round specification champion. If those two priorities are at the top of your list, it makes sense. If you want gaming, photography or the best screen for your money, I’d look elsewhere.
